Cox Helps You Resolve to Change the World…One Recycling Can at a Time

It’s that time of year again. Time to set your New Year’s Resolution, to prioritize your goals and make a concerted effort to be better than you were before. Set your sights on changing the world by participating in the new Single Stream Recycling Program and help Cox Automotive reach our goal to achieve Zero Waste to Landfill by 2024.

3003 Summit Team Members…Help Is Here

Members of the {go green} Council, in conjunction with the facilities team at 3003 Summit have made it easier than ever to stick to your resolution by providing new recycle cans to every team member in the building. Thanks to the Single Stream Recycling system, you can toss any recyclable item into the single recycle bin at your very own desk, making it as simple to “go green” as it is to throw your trash in the garbage! Now you can toss your garbage in the black desk-side trash can and your recyclables in the desk-side recycling bin. It’s that simple.

How Does Single Stream Recycling Work?

Single stream recycling is a process that eliminates the sorting and separation of materials sent to be recycled. Single stream sorting differs from the traditional multiple stream method where you have to sort and separate recyclables (paper, bottles, cardboard, etc) into different bins.

This means all you have to do to keep your New Year’s resolution to go green is place your used items in the proper can at your own work station. The facilities team will handle the rest! Members of the Go Green Council are working with the cleaning service to ensure recycling contents are properly removed. Now you can toss your garbage in the black trash can and your recyclables in the recycling bin. It’s that simple.

When Will I Get My Can?

Look for your new recycle can and the recycling sticker to be delivered based on the following schedule:

Tuesday, January 5: Floors 1- 8

Wednesday, January 6: Floors 9 – 14
Thursday, January 7: Floors 15 – 18

*Place your sticker on the side of your can for a quick reminder of acceptable contents.

Don’t forget we are still encouraging you to use “one less cup”. By choosing to reuse your coffee mug and tumbler for each trip to the break room, you are wasting fewer disposable cups…making our Zero Waste to Landfill goal that much easier to achieve!

The American Business Act on Climate Pledge

We applaud the growing number of countries that have already set ambitious targets for climate action. In this context, we support the conclusion of a climate change agreement in Paris that takes a strong step forward toward a low-carbon, sustainable future.

We recognize that delaying action on climate change will be costly in economic and human terms, while accelerating the transition to a low-carbon economy will produce multiple benefits with regard to sustainable economic growth, public health, resilience to natural disasters, and the health of the global environment.

Earnhardt Jr Continues to Fight For Points and Position

Dale Earnhardt Jr. (88) hits the wall in Turn 2 during

Watch this weekend’s action-packed Hollywood Casino 400 and look for the KBB logo on Dale Earnhardt Jr’s No.  88 Chevy SS. Dale will compete for points, and ultimately for a chance to advance to the Eliminator 8, as he is currently ranked 11th in points and needs strong showings at Kansas and Talladega to continue. With an opportunity to rack up points in Kansas, Dale is positioning his team for Talladega’s restrictor-plate race where he hopes to replicate his first place finish from May!

USA TODAY Sports writer Jeff Gluck spoke with Dale about making aggressive adjustments in everything from the setup to how he races as he works to secure a spot in the Eliminator round: “A few of us will be out there for blood, trying to claw our way back in. I like being able to race like that.”

Logano Secures His Spot in the Eliminator Round with a Victory at Charlotte

Joey Logano soared through Charlotte Motor Speedway and into Victory Lane, taking the top spot at last weekend’s first race of the Contender round. That checkered flag finish makes him the driver to beat as he tops the leader board in overall driver standings and secured Team Penske’s No. 22 Ford Fusion’s spot in the Eliminator round.

As he continues to out race the competition, including Chase favorite Kevin Harvick, national media coverage spotlights Logano’s new mantra to focus on himself and his team instead of worrying about what the competition is doing.

USA TODAY Sports writer Jeff Gluck featured the Harvick/Logano match as one to watch: “Although Harvick gets most of the attention, Logano has been right there with him in performance. Logano’s win Sunday at Charlotte Motor Speedway was his ninth in the past two years; Harvick has eight during that time.”

Tune in to watch the drama unfold…and take note of the Autotrader and KBB logos as they continue to race toward Victory Lane!

The NAAA Annual Convention Spotlights Cox Automotive’s Leadership Role in the Remarketing Industry

This year’s National Auto Auction Association (NAAA) Annual Convention, held September 22 – 24 in Orlando, put a spotlight on the value of a holistic perspective and collaboration within the automotive industry. To kick off the event, president-elect Mike Browning (general manager, Manheim San Antonio) accepted the remarketing industry’s top leadership role. As NAAA president, Browning brings a well-rounded view of the automotive industry and is eager to put that perspective to good use.

“I’ve been a part of all sides. I’ve been a buyer and a seller. I understand the pain points, the needs and wants of all involved. I feel like I can bring everyone together,” Mike said.

Continuing the spotlight on Manheim leadership’s contribution to the auto auction industry, Jay Cadigan, vice president of industry relations for Manheim, was inducted into the NAAA Hall of Fame. “It’s our pleasure and privilege to honor Jay for his hard work, dedication and commitment to excellence,” said Frank Hackett, NAAA chief executive officer. “He’s a strong believer in the association and what its members can accomplish working together. His efforts have made a positive impact on the remarketing world and provide an outstanding example of professional achievement to future generations in our business.”

Representatives from the industry’s top brands celebrated the year’s successes with awards and recognition, highlighting new leadership aimed at revolutionizing the industry as it moves to increased digital transactions. Cox Automotive’s own Grace Huang was announced as the first ever Manheim senior vice president of inventory services. This role allows Huang to focus on the assurance that dealers are able to work “effectively and efficiently” throughout the wholesale process.

Special recognition was given to two of Cox Automotive’s top leaders, who were awarded the Warren Young Fellowship. Matt Arias, director of arbitration for Manheim and NAAA’s Auction Standards Committee chairman, and Brian Geitner, president of NextGear Capital, accepted fellowships.

Also representing Cox Automotive’s focus on industry-wide solutions, team members from AiM (Alliance Inspection Management) were on hand as ambassadors for innovation within the vehicle inspection process. Advancement in the procedures and transparency in the reporting process are vital throughout the industry as the wholesale and retail sectors move from in-lane and in-store to the online marketplace.

Congratulations to all of our Cox Automotive winners. The following is a list of additional awards and recognition given to Cox Automotive business units throughout the three day event.
